Off campus: Know your limit and don't exceed that when it comes to drinking. You can still have fun, and remember what you did the next day.

Even if your drinking water keep an eye on your cup.

Always lock your car, it sounds silly i know... but an unlocked car is just asking for trouble.

Also when traveling two words , money belt. It takes all the worry about someone swiping your credit card, cash, passport, tickets ect. Plus there super cheap. I started using one for travel when I was abroad and just kept up the habit :)

When traveling on or off campus, I always make sure that someone knows where I am going.

I also try to stay in groups and take taxis as much as possible, the fees can add up but they are worth it.

When drinking alcohol, you should always be in control. You don't want to be the friend that couldn't help another friend, just because you were to drunk.

I also like jogging around campus in the evening. I see many students wearing headphones while jogging around campus, which can prevent you from noticing your surroundings.

I think it is important that students not listen to headphones while jogging alone.

I always make sure I have a ride home BEFORE I even go out to party, you never know how the night will turn out! I also surround myself with people I am familiar with and trust. Dont share drinks anywhere and watch what you do with yours.

Also, never bring home strangers and listen to your friends when they tell you its a bad idea..

When I go anywhere off campus, I tell my roommates where I'm going. If I had an idea when I'll be back, I would tell them that too.

My friends and I always decide who will be the DD before we head out to a party. If we can't decide who it will be, I volunteer.

To stay safe on campus, I always have a friend with me when walking at night. During the day, there's nothing that's really dangerous other than the speedy bikes! I guess just watch out for them!!!

On campus:

Make sure you always have a DD, as the police often stereotype college students and will pull you over even if you technically haven't had anything to drink. Carrying just cash is also a good idea, as i've lost my wallet before at a party and haven't a credit card in it isn't the smartest idea.

Additionally always have someone with you, especially if you need to go to a grocery store or gas station at night, for many people often will ask for change when you're cornered and make you feel pressured to give them stuff.

On campus:

Cell phones are a must, as programs like safe ride and safe walk can only be possible if you have a way to communicate with them.
Also watch out when crossing streets as many of the areas near sorority lane only have stop signs which many students just drive through, and especially if they've been drinking they're not going to notice someone coming across, especially those on bikes.

The things that I do to stay safe on campus is the same things that I do when im off campus. I always am aware of my surroundings no matter where I am. I always carry money and my cellphone incase of an emergancy. Also, like I said in the previous blog, never walk alone. Tucson is not exactly the safest place at night, so make sure you have people with you if you decide to take a walk.

Carry a cell phone with you. I beleive it's especially crecial when your walking alone at night. Try to inform your friends if your going somewere. Finally bring some warm clothes if your staying late in the library. The weather becomes really cold at night so make sure you avoide becoming sick.

When it comes to off campus safety, avoid drunk driving at all costs! Wether its you or your friends who drink and drive, it's always your responsibility if you are able to prevent a drunk from driving. Watch out for pedestrians crossing the streets or any other surprises one encounters while driving.
